The 13th edition of the biggest natural event in Portugal is coming up. As usual, Sagres Birdwatching and Nature Activities Festival will take place in the first days of October this year from the 1st to the 5th.
Despite its primary focus on birdwatching, with field trips, bird ringing sessions and boat birding tours, this natural festival has much more than bird-related activities. The range of other nature activities is incredibly vast. The September interview is about a birdlife conservation project - the LIFE PanPuffinus - by the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds (SPEA) to protect marine bird species. It is being implemented on the coastline of central Portugal, particularly in the Aveiro-Nazaré Special Protection Area. This project is co-funded by the European Union’s funding LIFE Programme.
